  • Kyland Clark 15 says his friend poured boiling water on him after the two looked up “Hot Water Challenge” videos online

Dr. Ed Bartkus, who works at the Indiana University Health University Hospital, said there has been an uptick in the number of children who come in with "Hot Water Challenge"-related burns".

FOX59 says the challenge involves someone either drinking boiling water through a straw, or having the water poured on them.

He says that he and his friend looked up the challenge on the internet and chose to participate. The friend poured boiling water on Kyland while he was asleep. "I'm just blessed that he's still breathing".

"I looked down at my chest, and my skin just fell off my chest, and then I went and I looked in a mirror and then I had skin falling off right here and on my face", he said. He suffered second-degree burns to his body and face, Fox News reported.

In 2017, an eight-year-old Florida girl died months after she suffered injuries to her throat from taking the "challenge" and sipping boiling water. Hopefully the lesson Clark learned can promulgate throughout the internet faster than the challenge itself, showing young people that boiling water, whether tossed on someone or ingested, is nothing to laugh about.

"To see my baby, all burned up like that, it was heartbreaking", his mum Andrea Clark told WXIN.

Rockets, RFA Capela agree to $90M deal
He was rumored to want a similar contract to the four-year, $100 million deal center Steven Adams signed with the Thunder. Imagine how good their chemistry will be as they get more and more playing time under their belts with the Rockets.

Kyland Clark, 15, says he'll be back out shooting hoops soon, but for now, he is still wearing the scars of a risky internet challenge.

Bartkus told the local news station that people can sustain "permanent disfigurement" from the burns that result from the scalding water, and even death.

Clark was treated for his injuries in the hospital for a week.

"If your friends are telling you to do this, they are not good friends", Bartkus said. Don't take it overboard, ' Kyland told WLTW.

Kyland is recovering from his injuries. He took the opportunity to warn teens about taking part in risky Internet challenges such as the "Hot Water Challenge".
