Six women said Moonves sexually harassed them between the 1980s and late 2000s, according to a report in the New Yorker by Ronan Farrow, who earned a Pulitzer Prize past year for his reporting on allegations against the disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

Looking directly into a camera Chen said, "Some of you may be aware of what's been going on in my life the past few days".

CBS's independent board of directors said in a statement on Friday that it would "take appropriate action" at the conclusion of the investigation.

The US television network's board said it would also reschedule its annual shareholders meeting, which was due for 10 August, to a later date. "And I will stand by this statement today, tomorrow, forever".

Chen - who hosts both The Talk and Big Brother on CBS - previously had tweeted out support for her husband in a post Friday that read, "I have known my husband, Leslie Moonves, since the late '90s, and I have been married to him for nearly 14 years".

Four described forcible touching or kissing during business meetings, and two said Moonves physically intimidated them or threatened to derail their careers.

That was the last Kirgo heard from Moonves, she told NPR. He has always been a kind, decent and moral human being.

FOX59 says the challenge involves someone either drinking boiling water through a straw, or having the water poured on them. He took the opportunity to warn teens about taking part in risky Internet challenges such as the "Hot Water Challenge".

The New Yorker included a response to the allegations from Moonves who admitted to "kissing" in some of the instances, but denied anything bordering on the definition of "sexual assault".

Wall Street Journal reporter Keach Hagey, who wrote a book about battle for power at CBS, said the probe would be "top-to-bottom", examining not only Moonves's conduct, but also the broader company culture. "All allegations of personal misconduct are to be taken seriously", they said in a statement.

But he added that he had "never misused my position to harm or hinder anyone's career".

"If Les Moonves does step aside, it would increase the chances that CBS and Viacom would merge", Hagey said.

Meanwhile, CFRA Research downgraded CBS on Monday from buy to hold, citing the unclear near-term outlook for the company.

Moonves has headed CBS Corporation since 2016.

Six former employees told Farrow that Fager would touch employees in ways that made them uncomfortable at company parties, and in one instance made a drunken advance toward one junior staffer.
