Faced with losses, MoviePass discount tix service hikes fee

MoviePass won't offer its subscribers tickets to the upcoming major releases The Meg and Christopher Robin, according to Business Insider, which says it got information from someone who is familiar with the matter. The service has tried to make ends meet by deploying a variety of different add-ons to its plan.

Reports of MoviePass' death may have been greatly exaggerated - or at least premature. "Those films will not be available to MoviePass users in their first two weeks in theaters unless part of a special promotion", according to BuzzFeed. During the launch weekend of Mission: Impossible - Fallout, many MoviePass subscribers discovered they couldn't use their subscription service to watch the movie. Tuesday's announcement comes just days after the company, in a note to subscribers, justified surcharges for popular movies and show times as a way to keep rates low.

"As we continue to evolve the service, certain movies may not always be available in every theater on our platform", the statement read.

MoviePass could be done for as it has suffered numerous problems and issues in recent weeks, with the latest being that the App is now down.

But, Variety notes, this is only a temporary measure for MoviePass, which has been burning through its cash since it first implemented its radical price drop from $50 a month to $10 a month in August of past year.

Trump Echoes Giuliani: 'Collusion Is Not A Crime'
President Trump argued Tuesday that collusion can not be a criminal offense, but he doubled down on denials of any wrongdoing. But Trump, a serene man confident in his own innocence, has updated " no collusion! " to " collusion is not a crime ".

The company has fallen on incredibly hard times as it tries to find a financially feasible business model.

Currently, it's reported the MoviePass app is showing users: "There are no more screenings at this theater today". MoviePass announced it would be increasing the monthly subscription price to $14.95 while restricting the movies available, not offering tickets for films within two weeks of their wide release. MoviePass parent company announced Tuesday that subscribers will begin paying $14.95 and will have limited access to blockbuster films, citing a need for a "cost-reduction and subscription revenue increase".

MoviePass has also confirmed that it won't be supporting the "major new releases" anymore at launch. But keep in mind you can't see the same movie a few times.

"These changes are meant to protect the longevity of our company and prevent abuse of the service", CEO Mitch Lowe said in the release. How much longer do you think the service can continue?
